March 2025 Newsletter

Dear Connect Yoga Community,

It’s wonderful to be back in full swing and reconnect with familiar faces and meet some new ones.

Over the course of the next few months both Ed and Jill are drawing inspiration and themes from the book Living Your Yoga, Finding the Spiritual in Everyday Life by Judith Lasater. This an easy read with connection to practical everyday living, each chapter offering a light personal story, some practical practices and some mantras to match the chapter's theme.

What have you covered in Ed’s classes so far this year?

Sometimes you may wonder what you have worked on in your practice. I thought I might summarize what my themes were and what our peak poses have been for the month of February.

For the month of February in our Vinyasa classes we have followed the following themes and peak poses:

  • Faith and trust with the peak pose being Broken Triangle.
  • The idea of discipline in yoga with the peak poses being Warrior I, II and III.
  • The theme of letting go and surrender with the peak pose being a goddess flow.

In our YIN classes we have focused on healing and looking inwards to the majesty of your body and celebrating our Body of Joy.

I am looking forward to the month of March when we will share our yoga journey together looking at the following themes and peaks:

  • Perspective with our peak pose being eagle pose.
  • Courage with our peak pose being pyramid pose.
  • Relaxation with our peak pose being a supported bridge pose (setu bandhasana)
  • Compassion with our peak pose being Camel pose (Ustrasana)

Values

Connect Yoga is on its way towards spreading yoga to the community. We would like to ask for your support in solidifying some of our company values and help create a greater sense of community. In the month of March, we will be handing out a small hexagon-shaped piece of paper. We are asking you to decorate the hexagon with one word describing how you feel when you do yoga or one reason why you come to yoga. It would be an appreciated bonus if you could also add a splash of colour or design onto your hexagon. We envisage putting all the hex’s together in a beautiful mural of uplifting words. You do not need to include your names.

This idea sprung from the beautiful “tapestry” of hexagons that Jill created with the year fives at her school, where they each wrote down a core value. The visual creates a real sense of community and connection.

Anyone for coffee?

For the month of March, we will be running a special for our Friday morning 9.00am class with Jill. If you come to any Friday morning class, we will shout you a coffee or tea at the Blue Café, just across the street.

We look forward to seeing you on the mat!

Namaste,

Ed & Jill
