Connect Yoga
A Yoga Community on the North Shore in Auckland
Connect Yoga is the brainchild of Ed Dutton and Jillian McLean. Ed, originally from South Africa, and Jillian, from Pennsylvania, met through the local Birkenhead yoga community. In 2022, Connect Yoga was born from a simple idea — to share their love of yoga with others in a way that feels welcoming, accessible, and genuinely supportive.
At Connect Yoga, we believe yoga is for everyone. It’s not just about physical strength or flexibility, but about nurturing mental and emotional wellbeing, building resilience, and finding moments of calm in busy lives. Our classes and workshops are designed to help you reconnect with yourself, move with awareness, and grow in confidence both on and off the mat.
We are deeply committed to making yoga accessible and affordable for our local community. We want our space to feel open to all — whether you’re brand new to yoga or have been practising for years.

Welcome - Let's Connect!
Our classes are warm and welcoming, where people of all ages and abilities can come to practice yoga and connect with their community.
By keeping our offerings approachable and inclusive, we hope to remove barriers and create a community where everyone feels they belong.
We are dedicated to helping each student reach their full potential, whether they're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner.
Our classes are held at St John The Baptist Church in Northcote. Props are provided. We encourage you to bring your own mat, but we always have a few free to use. There is plenty of free parking on site (around the back of the church).

Our yoga classes
Most of our offerings are Vinyasa-style yoga, with a dedicated Thursday evening Yin class to support a slower, more restorative practice.
Our Vinyasa classes are designed to be for all levels. Whether you’re completely new to yoga or have an established practice, you’ll find options and variations to meet you where you are — with enough depth to keep things engaging as you grow.
Classes typically begin close to the ground, gently warming the body before building towards standing sequences and flowing sun salutations. We then wind things back down with seated and floor-based postures. Along the way, we weave in breathwork, core and stability work, balance, and strength — creating a well-rounded practice.
Each class finishes with Savasana — a chance to fully rest, reset, and absorb the benefits of your practice. Our intention is simple: that you leave feeling better in both body and mind, and glad you carved out the time for yourself.
On Thursday evenings, we offer a Yin class — a slower, more meditative style of yoga. This practice is mostly floor-based, with the support of props and longer-held postures, allowing the body to gently open and the mind to truly unwind.

Invest in your wellbeing
We know how good yoga can make you feel — and in the busyness of everyday life, our classes offer a chance to slow down and take time for yourself.
We’re committed to keeping our classes affordable and accessible, so more people in our community can experience the benefits of this powerful mind–body practice.
Our space is welcoming to all — from busy professionals to grandparents, teenagers, and everyone in between. However you arrive, you’ll be supported.
Yoga is for everyone, and that’s exactly what we’re here to share.
