Kia Ora! For anyone who isn't subscribed to our mailing list, here is our October Newsletter:
It feels like we are still waiting for Spring to arrive, but no matter what the weather, it’s always a great time to come to a Yoga class.
Online Booking and the Momence App
We are really enjoying watching our Connect Yoga community grow. It’s great to see people visiting our website and using our new booking system. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you may want to consider downloading the app. https://connectyoga.co.nz/pages/connect-yoga-app
This app allows you to bring up our class schedule, book a class, buy classes and credits and check how many credits you have remaining. By booking into class before your arrival it helps us check everyone in a bit more efficiently. You can still choose to pay cash upon arrival by selecting the pay later option when booking.
Special Connect Class Led By Ed and Jill
On Wednesday, 11th of October, 5:45pm we will be having a special class to celebrate our new website and booking system. This class will be led by both Ed and Jill. After the class, weather pending, we will have celebratory drinks (juice and bubbles) and snacks in the car park outside of the hall. To celebrate the launch of our website and our growing yoga community we will be having a prize draw on the 11th after class. Anyone who registers online for the Celebration class, by 5:30pm (on the day of the class) will go into the draw to win 5 free classes!
*Please note that we will have a photographer there on the evening, taking photos for our website. His primary focus will be on Ed and Jill and some wider shots, avoiding faces. If the potential of appearing on our website is disconcerting in any way, please set your mat up in the carpeted area at the back of the hall. On the flip side, if you are super keen to appear on the website, we can perhaps use your for a few closer shots.
Outdoor Yoga
Keep an eye on our social media accounts for information on the return of outdoor yoga at Little Shoal Bay. Once the weather becomes consistently nicer and the ground dries out we plan on resuming our Monday outdoor classes at Little Shoal Bay (5:30-6:20). Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long.
Parting thought
Yoga can sometimes call for us to be vulnerable - not only in how we open our chest to the sky, when our bodies instinct is to shield our heart space or come to a pose that may make up feel exposed or uncomfortable; but also in allowing a connection to deeper parts of yourself, exploring different philosophies and sometimes sharing that vulnerability with others. For many years I saw vulnerability as weakness but I now realise that it can be a great teacher and necessary when diving deeper into relationships (both personal and professions). It is often through vulnerability that connections are made. If you are interested in more detailed reading or TED talks on vulnerability, I (Jill) highly recommend checking out Brene Brown. In the meantime, I leave you with this quote: “We’re often afraid of being vulnerable, but vulnerability creates genuine connection.” -Gabby Berstein.
Namaste,
Ed and Jill
