Hi Connect Yoga community
The purpose of these blogs is to give you a reminder of what you have been experiencing with us at Connect Yoga. Here is a recap of some of the themes and peak poses covered for March.
With Jill we expanded on mantra building and how this linked to the idea of control. We handed out small cards with the serenity prayer on them:
“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference."
With Ed in the month of March we peaked in some beautiful poses
1. Eagle following the theme of perspective - "Sell the goat!"
2. Pyramid combined with the theme of courage.
3. Supported bridge pose and relaxation.
4. Lastly our camel pose discussing the theme of compassion.
YIN
Our YIN classes continue to grow as we facilitate 60-minutes of relaxation in our busy weeks. For me, it is a highlight of the week. I always look forward to sharing my practice with you and growing and learning as a teacher.
Here are some of the benefits of yin yoga:
1. Increased flexibility
2. Improved joint mobility
3. Enhanced circulation
4. Stress relief and relaxation.
5. Mental clarity
6. Release of Deep-seated tension
7. Better sleep quality
8. Accessible for all levels.
Yin yoga combines Chinese meridian lines and the body's superficial lines to create a holistic view of health and energy flow.
Together they illustrate how energy flows through our bodies, impacting movement, posture, and overall health, emphasising the interconnectedness of physical and energetic systems.
· Meridian lines represent pathways for Qi (vital energy), connecting internal organs and influencing physical and emotional well-being.
· Superficial lines, found on the front, back, and sides of the body, correspond to muscle and fascia structures.
Here are a few pictures of me doing my YIN training with the tape illustrating the superficial front line.
And the superficial back-line.
In Yin Yoga, we hold postures for longer periods, gently stretching deep into the connective tissues. This not only increases flexibility but also helps to clear blockages along the Meridians, creating a smooth flow of energy. 🌟
Whatever you are doing on the mat, we respect you and thank you for joining us on our mission to spread yoga to our community.
Namaste
Ed and Jill
